How Lockbin protects what you send
Encrypted at rest
Message bodies and attachments are stored encrypted with AES. Each message has its own key, and that key is protected with RSA.
Encrypted in transit
Data moves between your office, your recipients and Lockbin over TLS 1.2 or higher.
A record of every message
Lockbin records when each message is opened, from what IP address, and when messages are deleted.
Hosted in the US
Lockbin runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States.
Keep patient details out of the subject line
Subject lines, file names, and sender and recipient addresses aren't encrypted at the message level. Put patient names and other health information in the message body or an attachment, and give files plain names.
Who asks us for a BAA
Therapists and counselors, dental practices, medical offices, and insurance agents who handle health information. Premium is $10 a month for one user. Enterprise is $10 per user a month, with a login for each person in your office. Both plans include the signed BAA. More on how Lockbin handles HIPAA.
