Lockbin guide · Updated November 3, 2026
Short answer
Send your client a secure upload link instead of asking them to email attachments. With Lockbin, you write an Information Request, your client opens the link on any phone or computer and uploads their files without creating an account, and the files arrive encrypted in your Lockbin inbox.
Why emailed attachments are the weak spot
Most offices send securely but still receive sensitive files the old way: a client takes a photo of a driver's license or a W-2 and emails it. That copy sits unencrypted in the client's sent folder and your inbox, and it's the most common way sensitive files leak.
The fix is to give clients a secure place to send to, so the file never travels as an ordinary attachment.
Three ways to collect with Lockbin
- Information Requests. Ask for exactly what you need (for example, a signed consent form and both sides of an insurance card). Lockbin emails your client a secure link. They upload from their phone or computer, and you're notified when it arrives.
- Your own file-drop link. Premium gives you a personal upload page on lockbin.com. Put the link in your email signature or on your website, and anyone can send you files securely, any time.
- A secure form on your website. Build an intake or application form and embed it on your site. Submissions and attachments go to your Lockbin inbox, not to an ordinary email account.
Why it works for clients
Clients don't install an app, create a password or learn a portal. They tap a link and upload, which is why Lockbin works for clients who aren't comfortable with technology. Most people filling out Lockbin forms and requests do it on their phone.
Why offices choose Lockbin for this
- Files are stored encrypted with AES-256 and sent over TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Requests, forms and secure email are in one inbox, so you don't need a separate portal and a separate email tool.
- Premium is $10 a month, billed monthly, and includes a signed HIPAA BAA for healthcare offices.
- The free plan includes one Information Request, so you can try it with a real client today.
